Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has officially cemented his place among poker’s all-time greats. After years of high-stakes dominance and seven previous World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, he claimed the 2025 WSOP Main Event title and an eye-watering $10 million top prize.
It took just 79 hands at the final table, including only 20 on the last day of play, for Mizrachi to put away the remaining contenders and capture the most prestigious title in poker. The win wasn’t just fast, it was historic. The final table now holds the record for the fewest hands in two decades of WSOP Main Event history.
A Career-Defining Final Table Run
Heading into Day 10, Mizrachi held a commanding chip lead with over 445 million chips in play. It didn’t take long for that advantage to pay off. Kenny Hallaert was the first to fall, followed swiftly by Braxton Dunaway. Mizrachi’s aggressive playstyle and strong hands left little room for error for the other finalists.
That set the stage for a head-to-head duel between Mizrachi and the relatively unknown John Wasnock, a 50-year-old investment consultant from Washington state. Despite Wasnock's best efforts, including briefly regaining momentum with a few big pots, Mizrachi’s turned flush against Wasnock’s two pair sealed the deal.
Mizrachi’s Success Goes Beyond the Live Felt
While Mizrachi has long been a force in live tournaments, his success has also extended to online poker. In 2024, he secured his sixth WSOP bracelet in an online-only event—the $888 Crazy 8’s Encore No Limit Hold’em. That win was part of the growing importance of online poker tournaments, which now draw thousands of entrants from around the world.
Earlier in his career, Mizrachi also cut his teeth in online casino games, climbing from low-stakes Limit Hold’em on Paradise Poker to high-stakes action on PokerStars. His transition between live tables and online formats highlights the versatility that distinguishes top pros.
